Judging from the show's participants' POV, who are in competition with each other, it's legitimate to fight over a chicken, which represents a meal that will help them gain an advantage over each other. And for the chicken- what did you think they were going to do with it, if not kill and eat it? I see where you are coming from though. You are saying 'why chicken in the first place?' I guess they could put a bag of quick-meal spaghetti or something, but it doesn't seem right! I guess what I'm trying to say to you is Deal With It! It's just a goddamn chicken!
